Unsupportive and Unorganized Organization
Pros
It's easy to get hired Offers opportunities to serve the community Good Hourly Pay
Cons
I joined as one of the first employees of Right At School in Denver County. I was originally excited because the pay was fair and there was a lot of opportunity to grow with a new grant funded after-school enrichment program. It was a complete mess. Serving as the manager of my location, I was offered 0 support from supervisors and they often would not respond to calls or texts. Managers changed multiple times, district rules were not followed, and the staff overturn was unreal. Many of my staff members would no-call no-show, act in inappropriate ways, and not care about the children we worked with. I reached out about such staff multiple times being reprimanded for such behavior and nothing was done. Right-At-School also has strict programming guidelines which were unrealistic and unattainable without the proper staffing and space. Multiple parents did not report their children's disabilities which caused issues which could have resulted in legal action. The school did not like our program, which was understandable considering there was absolutely no solid foundation or network. At the start of the school year, we were told we would receive keys from the district to our schools. This is important in order to get into the school without having to buzz in at the front, to get into the school after closing the doors during outside play time, and just generally to have for safety and security purposes. We were NEVER given these keys. Everyday, we were required to go outdoors for Right-At-School programming. We were told the district was 'working on the keys' the entire school year. Management said that in the time being, we would have to call the janitorial staff to let us in the building. This was so unrealistic and unfair to all staff. Frequently, the janitorial staff would not be working after school and we would have to prop the doors open with a stick of wood we borrowed from the school. This is TOTALLY against Denver County Schools policy because of safety issues. Do not work for this company. I am highly educated, motivated, and willing to put in the work to help youth in my community. If anyone would be the ideal candidate for such a new position, I imagine it would be someone like myself. I promise you the fair pay will not make up for the mess of a job this is.
