      Pros

      I worked with a variety of intelligent and capable people on my team. Also appreciated the flexibility and unlimited PTO, but not unique to Root.

      Cons

      The CEO and leadership are in above their heads. No transparency into the business, and no genuine strategy. They lack experience in understanding the business and managing people. Your typical case of a start up getting "lucky," then blowing through all of the money. I was brought on as a part of growth...only to be let go less than 6 months later, it shows how quickly they can change direction and fail. The DEI initiatives are also a joke and meaningless.

      Disappointing experience

      Pros

      Remote position, company culture seems good at the surface and great benefits

      Cons

      After being hired for this position within the last 6 months it is extremely troubling to read a report saying that the company over staffed the sales department by 50 people. Now we are having new policies and meetings that threaten our employment as a way for the extra people to quit. I sure hope things settle down.

      Cons

      Not transparent about salary bands; Bad metrics for determining salaries; Hard to get promoted; High qualifications for each level; Adopting bad workplace practices;
