Pros

In the time I was working for RI, I watched the company culture evolve. It is not run like a small non-profit - you will receive an employment experience that can prepare you for the for-profit career.

Cons

Due to the positive culture and employees' dedication to the organization's mission and impact to the globe, there can sometimes be limited opportunities for advancement. My advice would be to look for new lateral opportunities, which in time can make you a more attractive candidate for upward mobility.

It is our hope that employees take advantage of the professional development opportunities we offer in order to prepare for that next step in their Rotary career. This can come in the form of classes, trainings, and certifications. - RI Global People and Talent Team

Pros

You'll meet incredibly smart, friendly people and support an organization that does great work.

Cons

Ill-informed mandates from the Board and Trustees receive little push-back from upper management, which leads to projects that make no sense. (This is part of why Rotary is struggling to stay relevant.) Work environment depends on your manager; some are progressive and flexible, and some are traditional.
