I was sold that this company was "changing the way of physician marketing", but instead I realized I was bait and switched on the role, and was pressured to push non-viable products just so the heads of my team could make bank via commission on my sales. When interviewing, I was told this was a "start-up" role with more strategy work involved. In reality, I was purely their sales assistant, micromanaged to an extreme, and told many times to "stay in my lane."
After I shared my honest and constructive feedback via an "anonymous" employee survey, I couldn't help but think that was when they started trying to pressure me to quit. They isolated me from the team and they also would make unprofessional comments behind my back about my personal life. Every "constructive" piece of feedback seemed to be personal and vague, without a clear path forward on how to remediate it. I'll definitely admit, it wasn't good performance on my end, but not very many people can succeed with that type of toxic management.
It was quickly evident that the heads of the team weren't invested in growing the company, but rather trying to milk every last ounce of commission before jumping ship. I tried to last a year for the sake of it, but the company did serious damage to my mental health.
