Pros

If you’re right out of college, SHI is not a bad place to start your career. You’ll get quick experience that can help boost your next opportunity.

Cons

I would not recommend anyone with more than 1-2 years professional experience to apply or accept a role as an Inside Sales Account Manager in the Austin office. The role itself is really a punching bag for customers and for the field sellers. Our attrition rates are awful right now, and as I’m writing this review I’ve heard of 2 people who have put in their notice this week. The company is losing tenured ISAMs at an alarming rate, which is being seemingly ignored by senior leadership. In this role, a seller is expected to work twice as hard as their field counterpart for 1/10th of the pay. Year over year, there has been a deliberate decrease to the commission rate of inside sellers. So if you do accept a role here, be prepared to have less earning potential the longer you stick around. I would be remiss to not mention benefits as well. In a booming city like Austin, SHI’s benefits feel archaic. They offer bare minimum health/dental/vision and that’s really it. There is no parental leave policy in place, no flexibility in your work, and SHI doesn’t spend a dime on extra perks (you’ll notice all “perks” are paid for by sponsors).

Many empty promises

Pros

Fairly low expectations. Most people are decent.

Cons

NJ cult/clique of in office workers getting preferential treatment. Disconnected and dillusional upper management. Many middle and upper management slots filled by cronies or suck ups who are unqualified Unrealistic earnings potential presented as fact. Inability to live up to promised territories, comp etc. Hyper focus on DEI to the detriment of everyone and sometimes to the exclusion of certain groups. Upper management claiming regularly to have struggles with mental health. Privately owned means no regular checks and balances for management that would be seen in publicly traded companies.

Pros

-takes a while to get moving, but you can make money. -Great learning experience, met some great friends and learned valuable experience i use everyday at my Job i actually love.

Cons

- I felt like i was in high school all over again. The micromanaging was absolutely insane. Managers taking note how long bathroom breaks are, how long your conversations are with coworkers, looking through your phone calls. Have to leave 10 minutes early? Prepare for crippling anxiety and having to come in 30 min early. 2 minutes late? Prepare for a write up to HR. Wearing the wrong shoes? Prepare for a formal warning from HR about your work attire. Don’t forget to clock in and out for you salaried position! - Lowered standards to fill training classes. You are just a number here, that’s all you are. Originally it took a bachelors degree to get the job, now they dropped it to an associates to fill training classes.... - Favoritism is a huge huge huge problem... all those things i mentioned above? Doesn’t matter if you’re a favorite. It’s really absurd, and very cliquey.. again like you’re in high school all over again.
