Pros

The people on-property are largely wonderful people and a joy to work with.

Cons

The Corporate office is brutally cut-throat and will work you as hard as you let them before discarding you at the first sign of faltering. I worked in the home office for about 9 months to rave reviews from peers and business partners. Over the summer, I took emergency leave to get my mother life-saving care, which was initially encouraged and supported by senior leadership. When my mother recovered, and I returned to work, I was fired for not getting the job done while I was gone. I mean, if you can’t do your job when your mom is dying, when can you do it, right? HR later confirmed to me that because I wasn’t on protected family leave at the time, I was still responsible for the work. The thing is, Sage was legally obligated to let me know my rights around Colorado’s FAMLI Act within 5 days of learning about leave that would qualify for protection (mine qualified). They never did, and I didn’t learn about the FAMLI Act until after I was fired. Later, the leader who initially supported my leave was also fired. I have an active complaint with the State for Colorado FAMLI Act violations.

Dear Former Sage Associate, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We take feedback like this seriously, especially when it raises concerns related to leave, employment protections, and how associates are supported during challenging personal circumstances. While we’re not able to discuss individual situations in this forum and cannot verify the specifics of individual claims in a public setting, we want to be clear about our standards and expectations. Sage Hospitality Group is committed to complying with all applicable employment laws, including the Colorado FAMLI Act, and to ensuring our People & Culture practices are rooted in clarity, care, and consistency. Pros

The company as a whole is embracing and encouraging. They lift you up and guide you like no other company I have worked with. Most companies have catchy slogans that draw you in and don't deliver. But at Sage you really do feel like you belong.

Cons

As a chef, you are tied to certain restrictions with food creativity. And it varies from property to property and extremely dependent on each hotel. Look around and find the right property for you. Sage has them all.
