No career path without PhD or MD

Pros

Pockets of folks and specific departments who are phenomenal and very committed to SLU's mission of service, learning, and leadership. Lots of learning opportunities, to a point.

Cons

Rigid hierarchy, patriarchal/inequitable structure, Large gap overall between mission and what the true actions and priorities are. If you are a woman or minority or have a master's or less, come here for the education benefits and the learning experience and then get out.

Pros

For SLU employee's there is a lot of vacation time. It used to be a great place to work but unfortunately the IT department has changed quite a bit and not for the better.

Cons

There is no loyalty to the Saint Louis University IT employee. Most positions are contracted out which is fine if your a contractor. It's a job with no perks.

Pros

Better than average pay for Higher Ed. Good benefits of matching 5% and ties to the hospital. Great campus climate and volunteering is truly embraced.

Cons

Prestige = Egos. The faculty create and live by a set of rules that is completely separate from the staff's. It's like having our own little Federal Congress. Faculty comes in late, leaves early and takes summers off while they enjoy much higher pay and 12 months notice of any employment changes. Also, no remote work.
