Pros

Good work life balance. Flexible hours. Great coworkers. Good benefits.

Cons

In IT poor leadership. CIO does not care about the people in his department only about making himself look good and advancing his career. He has fooled the people above him but none of the ones below him. High turnover in IT due to this.

Pros

One of the reasons I wanted to work for SLU was their mission of putting others first. I wanted to feel like I was apart of something important. They truly do put the students at the top of the priority list. It is a beautiful campus, typically a good group of people to work with depending on what department / team you are on.

Cons

In the information Technology Services Division the employees are managed by directors who are afraid of the CIO. The CIO is disconnected from what needs to happen within ITS because he spends all his time being an "external facing" CIO and pandering to every whim of all of ITS' customers. There is no open door policy with him. He told the IT project management group that they had to approve and take on every project request submitted. Currently almost every group in IT needs more resources. Not enough people to get the current jobs done plus take on new projects. Anyone in management who has kids that go to school here becomes a "yes man" so they don't risk losing their free tuition. (which I understand but it makes life harder for everyone else)

Pros

The benefits are not bad; free tuition up to 18 hours and a 2-1 match up to 5% on the 403b

Cons

They pay well below market value. Parking is very expensive. Management is largely incompetent and there are far too many layers.
