Pros

- Open door to students and young people looking for a start in a cottage industry. - One dollar bonus after 2 years of service.

Cons

- Toxic workplace and business operations. - Unwilling to provide living wage or fair compensation. The Benefits package was an unaffordable luxury. - Double standards with no oversight. Remote Work/ Stay-At-Home for a majority while a minority are required to commute and be micromanaged to a fault. - As technology is currently moving at lightspeed and the media landscape is shifting faster than we've ever experienced in history, Salem's operation seems to be stuck in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. - Favoritism run amok. Bullying not acknowledged. - HR is distant and disconnected from the actual culture of the company. - Unchecked poor performance results. - There is no middle in this company. It's either the grossly underpaid or the well-off. This gap is detrimental to productivity, team morale, and the quality of output and services. - The words innovation, progress, and multimedia have escaped this company. They are riding a tricycle on the Autobahn. - Upskilling not appreciated or supported. - To achieve upward mobility in the company, kowtowing to upper-management is more effective than professional development. - Deceptive virtue signaling. Salem produces & supports Christian content, although the actions of management are far from the Christian values they pose behind.

Pros

Working remotely when permitted to

Cons

The company is in real trouble and the San Diego stations are no different. Very challenging to find AM radio prospects for religious talk or right-wing political talk. They tried to pivot by white-labeling their digital, but the prices are higher than most and the results are almost never there. The sales teams are a revolving door because they almost always want you to start from scratch to build your own book of business. Usually takes less than 6 months for someone new to realize that what was said in the interview was not realistic.
