Pros

SI is a great place to work! I work with great people who are really, really smart. Work is fast-paced. Projects are very interesting and cover a wide spectrum, and periodic travel to interesting places is a nice bonus. Having excellent communications skills along with the traditional technical skill sets is very important. Creativity and fun are encouraged, and sharing what you learn with others is appreciated. Both professional and personal growth are important at SI. Management is incredibly transparent and open. It's very refreshing to be heard and to feel deeply involved with the company.

Cons

Sometimes the fast pace can be too fast, but overall it is manageable.

Pros

People say that when you do a job that you love, it doesn't feel like work anymore. That's true for Security Innovation. A big part of this stems from management that listens, projects that are interesting, and having such a close-knit team, that they're not just your coworkers, they're also your friends. Employees are comfortable approaching their own managers, all the way up to the CEO, and they know that their managers will listen to their concerns and rectify them. As a consulting company, most of the projects are relatively short, and you get a lot of varied and interesting work. I can count the majority of my co-workers as close friends, such that going to work just feels like hanging out with my buddies. The engineering side of the company has remarkably low turnover for tech company, a testament of people's happiness here.

Cons

Security Innovation is not a place to be stagnant. You're always expected to be improving yourself, both personally and professionally. If you're planning on just coasting, you're not going to last long. The company also expects you to learn on the job very quickly. Most of the knowledge necessary to succeed at SI can't be learned at school, and you better learn to swim, or you'll sink. Salaries for the security industry in this part of the country is pretty low, especially when compared to software development industries. You go into this career is because you love it, not for the compensation.
