Pros

8% 401k match. Offered remote work for 2 years during pandemic.

Cons

Massive turnover and understaffing. Salary ranges are not competitive. Employees are expected to become jack-of-all-trades with significant workload expectations leading to burnout. Management doesn’t listen to employee concerns. Toxic employees are not held accountable. Good employees are rewarded with more work and being strung along with a carrot on a stick. Promotions are very political and the accompanying raise is small. Not offering full-remote work going forward. No cost of living adjustment due to inflation. On-call support is demanding and unappreciated. They are accustomed to employees staying long-term due to a pension program that they no longer offer.

Thank you for sharing a review with us—current and former associate feedback helps drive our decision making and show areas where we can look to improve. At a department level, I hear your concerns and will look into them further. We want to do what we can to help all associates thrive in their careers. In regards to remote work, we believe face to face interaction helps make us stronger; however, we know there’s a place for remote work as well. That’s why we’re adopting a hybrid model, with both in-office and remote work days. Thanks you again for sharing your feedback. Jim Frank – Chief Information Officer

Pros

Sentry Insurance provides good compensation to employees. They're one of the largest employers in Stevens Point. The company is profitable and does a good job managing unremarkable insurance products. If you're working to pay bills, not for professional satisfaction, this company could be a good choice.

Cons

The culture at Sentry is broken. It's difficult to trust the company. High performers are routinely let go without notice. The employees that are successful long term, seem to be those that keep their head low, avoid risks, and exploit mistakes made by others.

Pros

Can't think of any right now

Cons

Sentry has tried to stay current on things employees want, but in the end, a new cafeteria or workspace isn't worth it without some good old fashioned respect. Teams are not consulted on whether deadlines are attainable, yet judged and suffer consequences when not met. Depending on the dept you work in, management is out of touch and there's a lot of favoritism.
