Pros
Upper management makes lots of promises to keep employees invested as they wait for things that never materialize, like pay increases, bonuses, incentives, new desks, etc. It worked for the short-term, but eventually people figure it out and morale plummets. I guess that really isn't a pro, is it. The individual supported are the best thing.
Cons
Where to starft? Mentor bought the small company for which I worked and immediately created 2-3 times the work for the same number of individuals served. Lots of promises were made that never materialized, and upper state-level management didn't seem to care that they had done this. The Mentor Network, at least in Missouri, is a lot like a used car salesman....look how great this is, you are going to be part of something special! Then it all falls apart and you can't offord to make your real car payments. The upper management do not know what they are doing at all, and often have middle management at the local level not only doing their work but also teaching them how to present it to the upper echilon in Boston. The worst thing is that this company does NOT care about the individuals we serve. They move them from home to home to increase their ability to get the most money, they do not provide supplies (one home with an incontinent individual went without a working drying for weeks), and they lie to families, guardians, and the direct care staff, who are the real people who do the improtant work, and they can not make enough at this company to support themselves.
