Pros

Sometimes, there’s dogs in corporate you might be able to pet. There’s a hiring bonus, but be aware you only get to keep it if you stay a year. You get free stuff/merchandise, occasionally.

Cons

Team building events are held off site, on Saturdays, when most if not all of us are off. For Ops Managers it’s mandatory, otherwise it’s “optional”. We have no AC, so if you come from a warehouse environment like Amazon, be ready to really sweat it. And we don’t have enough fans. At the associate level, in the off season they HARDLY get enough hours, so if you think you’ll get 40h get ready for an inconsistent schedule with little to no regard for you or your “work/life balance”. Additionally, you get mandatory over time and if you can’t come you get points which can lead to termination and this MOT will be short notice too. At the management level, your schedule can be inconsistent too. Sometimes they close the building, or they have mandatory overtime the next day and will let you know 1 day before. Plus during peak times you can average 80h a week and 14h+ days, but you’re salaried, so they don’t care. Additionally, for salaried members you’re supposed to have “unlimited PTO”, but don’t fall for that. They can deny it or take it back with less than a days notice. If you care about your safety, also think twice. Sexual harassment, threats, drinking at work, fights and destruction of property is definitely a major concern. In the last 2 years alone we’ve had people turn a blind eye to all of this, and while HR is aware, changes haven’t happened. Sure, some people get fired, but the system and the culture is the same. This is an unsafe, crippling and down right toxic environment. We have no support and very little structure. Again, if you come from established companies like Chewy, Amazon, etc you will be lacking that standardized level of structure you’re used to. And if you thought those companies HR team was hardly there to help… let’s just say Shipmonks will give you a run for your money. This company hires without completing background checks, they allow leaders and associates to date, they allow alcohol to be consumed for “work events” on site, and I won’t even mention the racist comments that are thrown around like nothing, or the ones that reference your weight or your body, or the sexist comments, or the homophobic ones. The list goes on…

Pros

None I care to share ***Toxic Executive Culture & Misleading Practices***

Cons

The executive team is by far the biggest issue at ShipMonk. Decisions are driven by personal relationships, not performance or qualifications. The entire executive team shows in the lack of accountability and professionalism. Transparency is nonexistent. Lay offs are constantly happening but will call them a role "elimination" only for the same positions to be quietly backfilled a few weeks later. It's a blatant move to make the company appear leaner and more profitable, especially in front of investors or during internal reviews. It's disingenuous, demoralizing, and leaves hard-working employees blindsided. There are also serious ethical red flags. While I won’t go into detail here, let’s just say there are practices taking place that raise legal and compliance concerns, things that would not hold up under scrutiny in a more regulated environment. SPECIFICALLY from the CPO and CEO... we all know who they are without naming any names

Pros

My work schedule that's all 4 days 3 days off

Cons

Unnecessary pointing supervisors point even if you called in sick and submitted its suppose to be 1 point but they mark you as no call no show anyway and give the 2 points because they feel like it and late entry they can point you even if you make it within the grace period they change this when they want they don't care also PTO and UTO good luck with that if supervisors don't like you they will delete and not notify you about rejection its happen to me way to many times. Favoritism to move up or get away with slacking off and only working a total of 3 hrs of the entire shift while having the rest of us to pick up the slack for these individuals management knows and sees this and they continue to allow this unfairness. A lot of unprofessional leads and supervisors do to this favoritism. HR lets supervisors get away with a lot of unfair treatments even allowing them to continue to recommend on potential OM and leadership and most times they get the position having multiple complaints and proven facts with witness on these claims and proven facts.
