Pros

Benefits for full time, ok pay for experienced people

Cons

They only hire people with zero jewelry sales experience, so you are constantly fixing newbie mistakes. If you are a key holder, assistant manager, or manager you can kiss your life goodbye because you will be living at work. You must be 6/6 standards (sales, addons, repairs, PPP, esp, and credit apps) at all times to be even be acknowledged you exist by upper management. They expect you to walk around the mall and harass people for credit apps. Upon getting hired, they expect you to also harass your friends and family to fill out a credit app. If you don't get your credit apps, you must go to weekly meetings or even call your district manager and tell him/her why you do not care about your job at the end of every shift. They will offer you a promotion, then give it to someone else the next day. The t.i.p.s line means nothing, they never follow up with anything. Upper management sweeps unethical and illegal behavior under the rug as long as you have your numbers in. This company is a joke. They do not care about their employees, they see you as a gigantic dollar sign or their dancing monkeys to make them money. Yet, they pay you dirt, including managers, if you expect to make over 40k as a manager you are mistaken. They fool managers into taking the position with crappy pay by saying they will get a bonus every April. Well, if you are a manager in a smaller volume store your bonus won't be jack. The commission scale is bull, they start out at HALF a percent and you can only make a max of 3% IF the STORE doubles its goal. In this economy, forget about it. Search for employment elsewhere.

Pros

I've worked in 2 stores. Completely different philosophies and atmospheres. Store 1: great manager. Great customers. Decent commission.

Cons

6 standards: sales, credit, warranties, repairs, payment protection plan, add-ons. All of these standards are ridiculous and workers get ZERO compensation for any of these besides sales. The highest commission for sales is 3%. Normally, a worker will get .5%(yes there is a decimal, meaning HALF). The worse incentives to sell ever. So you want me to get a bunch of credit applications and get no money out of it? That's cool. Oh, and they start people on minimum wage and lie by saying you can make a killing in commission. Bunch of bologna. Sterling, you make millions and millions and you mark up $500 rings to $2500 and all you can pay is below $8 hourly? Stop being so stingy. Rant done.

Pros

a few awesome people that I work with. I can get discounts although no protection plans.

Cons

you have 6 standards a month, sales 100%, add ons 60%, ESP 55%, repairs 100%, PPP 35%, and credit apps 1 every day worked. You have to stand on the lease line and bring people in, if you do not have 100% on credit apps you have to attend weekly meets at the last minute even on your day off and its not added time they make you take longer lunches to make up the time for the meetings. only good if you don't have kids because you can't take any vacation after September. Its just a retail job.
