In 2025 management implemented a rigid in-office policy whereby employees forfeit their one work from home day per week if they have taken a sick day or if the foundation has had a holiday earlier in the week. Leadership has underestimated the amount of widespread anger this has caused, and the difficulties this creates for working families. Administrative departments are overworked and complain about lack of work-life balance.

Senior management has actually stated that this is not a place for people to grow. Career opportunities are hard to come by.  For an organization that wants to pride itself in promoting basic science and mathematics, management is really averse to making data-driven decisions.  Favoritism runs rampant, with hand-picked individuals in roles. There are a number of intelligent individuals employed by the organization, but unfortunately not many actually have management skills. There is a distinct lack of management, structure and oversight to promote working more efficiently. Informatics has no clear vision; and bad management led to staff leaving, or requesting to transfer to another team. The informatics team is a cesspool filled with handpicked individuals not qualified to actually manage.
