Pros

a well-located headquarters in Boston with excellent office facilities. solid product/service Certain employees demonstrate commendable passion for their roles and company initiatives.

Cons

, the organizational culture is deeply concerning, characterized by pervasive issues of racism and sexism. Employees of color, particularly Black individuals and women, frequently encounter discriminatory remarks and negative judgments, such as comments on their appearance or hairstyle. Instances of inappropriate and racially insensitive comments, including being told, "You're handsome for a Black guy," and questions like, "Do you have a court date today? if you dress up to HQ" reflect a troubling and unacceptable workplace environment. A hiring manager in RVA once told me very casually in the cafeteria during a Wireless Indoor Camera launch, "he was not racist, he likes black people except the "ghetto ones". The customer Experience (CX) team, including the VA CX teams, is often marginalized and regarded as secondary. Opportunities for career advancement within CX are severely limited, particularly beyond the Agent Help Desk or Innovation Lab roles. There is a lack of diversity in the executive teams, promotions are based on relationships and not merit. Leadership within the CX team is unstable, with many leaders either departing quickly or being terminated. There is a high turnover rate within the Customer Experience (CX) team, which leads to frequent organizational restructuring The work environment does not respect personal boundaries, resulting in a poor work-life balance, can't even enjoy lunch in peace.

First, I am so sorry that this was your experience. This is unacceptable and misaligned with our values. I appreciate you sharing this feedback so that we can review and take any measures needed to address it. I would also welcome the opportunity to discuss further if you are comfortable reaching out directly. I do want to underscore a few points that I think are important. At SimpliSafe, we pride ourselves in being an inclusive work environment where everyone is welcomed, supported, and able to be successful. We take employee feedback very seriously, and we have made many changes in recent years to continue building our culture and making SimpliSafe a great place to work. In particular, we work with employees to foster an inclusive environment. One great example is our work to launch and invest in our employee resource groups (ERGs). As you mentioned, we have also invested in training for employees, managers and leaders to ensure we eliminate any implicit bias and lead inclusively. We regularly review these processes and systems to to eliminate any unconscious bias or inequities. Along those lines, it is important to us that SimpliSafe is a place where people can build and grow in their careers, no matter their background, role, or location. We pride ourselves on offering rich opportunities to learn and grow, both on the job and by supporting employees who wish to take on new skills or roles. We do this by posting internal job opportunities weekly, offering reimbursement for tuition, workshops and other enrichment opportunities. This is something we’re investing in even more now, with a specific focus in our customer-facing teams. All that said, I very much take your feedback seriously and will personally be following up on what you have shared to see where changes need to be made. --Ai-Li Lim, Chief People Officer
