Pros

Great people Good work-life balance Great product, good company mission

Cons

PE is turning this place from a cool tech startup into a half-baked tech company run by MBA finance people. Was getting very top-heavy managers/directors and not enough analysts. Analysts spend too much time making pretty slide decks to support high-ups' decisions with little ownership. They are way out of touch with market salaries for analytics people. Folks were getting poached by FAANG and Bay Area startups for 2x the comp. They do not appreciate the talented startup employees that built this company and the culture. Most of these people have already left, got let go, or got sidelined. Promotions are based on "whether you have big company experience" and politics rather than what you do here. Constant changes in leadership. Not much innovation since 2019. Most of what they've been doing was short-term growth tactics, plus under paying/penny pinching employees to squeeze out profits. I left because I was offered a more senior role for much higher comp and more ownership, after being denied promotions repeatedly as a startup employee, despite being key to the company's growth and getting a lot of traction from Big Tech.

Pros

Very Smart People ( though they are jumping ship one after another ), the idea of SimpliSafe as Chad envisioned it was/is great, helping people feel safe in their own home. Getting to work with software that was once written with those values is rewarding. If you end up in an department that’s still run by people that have been there for a while, you will be fine until those people are sidelined by a new incoming director or higher management that may just bring there own people and do a regime change. Still great benefits and unlimited PTO, non competitive compensation, flaky back to office policies, still downtown boston.

Cons

The culture that once defined SimpliSafe as truly one of the best places to work has probably been broken into million pieces, as the culture is kept alive by the people who nurtured it and those people have either left, have been sidelined or are looking for an exit. No Ego was something that was once the cornerstone of the culture and frankly allowed us to innovate and succeed like we did. Chad’s leadership was amazing and that distilled down to every people manager in every organization. Anyone could go talk to Chad or have discussions in an open forum, all hands were never a one way communication thing. Transparency and accountability were things that the company took pride in. May be those are just growing pains as company loses culture to be bigger.
