Pros

Tons of opportunities for free CEUs, wonderful colleagues, clean environment, breaks every hour (or can stack breaks), flexible -supportive for time off, steady work, decent pay (you eventually hit a paywall and no longer can earn more), offers opportunities for paid interpreting program for codas (similar to ITP - Compass), supportive training to prepare for working on the phones.

Cons

The company has changed significantly over the last year- laid off a bunch of employees without much notice, lacks deaf culture behind the scenes, laid off and lacks deaf employees, no longer cares about interpreters (treats us as warm bodies), lacks transparency (claims otherwise and there’s a good amount of “read in between the lines”), verbally abusive callers (both deaf and hearing callers) and management offers little to no support, no longer offers perks such as being able to travel and work at varying Sorenson office as a traveling interpreter.

Pros

Nice manager Work From Home

Cons

The customers were allowed to verbally abuse you all day and nothing would be done about it. The supervisors would hide from irate customers and leave you to fend for yourself against them. I was literally on my hands and knees crying and hyperventilating after a call and all they did was tell me ways to “cope.” Awful. The training was good but not enough. Nobody could be prepared for the trauma this position leads to. I haven’t worked here for years and still sometimes get flashbacks.

Pros

Working to help the deaf and hard of hearing communities.

Cons

Extremely inflated executive group who are out of touch with the deaf community. Poor vision that lead to the loss of most of the knowledge and people who made Sorenson and CaptionCall great places to work for.
