Pros

Number one? The people. I don't know what it is about Sovos but we absolutely hire the right people in terms of culture fit. Everyone is always willing to help each other out and that goes a long way. I love all of the benefits that are offered here - the free snacks and drinks, the game room to relax, the monthly events that are held, and the ample opportunity that we have to volunteer and give back to our community. I feel valued as an employee and I have not experienced that same feeling at other companies.

Cons

We are faced with constant change (which is understandable considering we are in the technology industry) and not everyone here is well-equipped to handle the change, which can lead to problems. We have had communication problems in the past but I have seen some improvement in that area over the past year which is good and makes me hopeful moving forward.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on Sovos! We couldn’t agree with you more - our employees are what make our organization such a great place to work. We’re proud to have such a collaborative workforce! We’re also happy to hear you feel we’re heading in the right direction in terms of communication. This has been a key strategic initiative of ours lately, hosting focus groups to hear directly from our employees on how we can improve. We’ve translated these into action items and are looking forward to implementing some of the communication improvements that have been developed with the company soon! Thank you again for providing your feedback on #LifeAtSovos! We encourage you to reach out to your manager or local HR should you have any thoughts or suggestions on improving communication.

Not a place to be if you want job security

Pros

There were some cool "perks" like food, drinks and events. You at least got a paycheck.

Cons

This place seems to believe in the value of constantly firing people. I haven't worked there for a few months, but I am seeing former coworkers constantly looking for new jobs and seeing that they were involuntarily let go. Being there was stressful, the days with mass firings, or just the day to day of hearing who else was let go, it was hard to even focus on your job without being worried. It became a fend for yourself environment, which made it hard to bond with coworkers because people were always stressed. Some managers were great, but others were terrible. It wasn't uncommon for you to be made to feel inadequate. You could be doing everything well and be praised for it, then just sudden change of heart and being told you weren't capable of doing your job. I had known several people being "let go" after no negative feedback, just someone changing their mind. It seemed that some of the managers were able to feel better about themselves by putting employees down - all around not ideal environment. The pay was way below average - if they spent less money on the "perks" like ping pong tables and snacks and more in investing in their employees, the morale would be greatly improved. I don't know anybody that would prefer having a cooler of drinks over a decent paycheck.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had such a terrible experience. Our goal as an organization is to create a challenging and rewarding environment where all employees have the opportunity to contribute, develop, and grow. In our annual employee survey, employees told us that encouraging new ideas was a strength for Sovos. But, it sounds like you didn’t experience that in your role, and we don’t take that lightly. I’m particularly concerned about the perception that we make a practice of letting people go. While we’ve never done a mass layoff as you describe, there were structural changes required to integrate the businesses we brought together into one global team, and unfortunately those changes did come with some position eliminations over the past couple years. The truth is, we’ve actually grown significantly in that time, ballooning from less than 500 people to more than 1,000 worldwide. And, our business depends on our ability to find, retain and grow talented people in every department. We appreciate the acknowledgement of our great managers. We invest heavily in hiring talented managers and arming them with the training and tools they need to thrive. Last year, 80% of employees felt their manager made it easier to do their job well. But we strive to do even better. We have worked hard in implementing additional training resources to help our managers grow and improve the overall employee experience. We take every review seriously, and we will take all your feedback back to our leaders for discussion. We are working every day to be better than the next, and we appreciate your direct feedback. We wish you luck in your next opportunity.

Pros

The employees you get to work with are awesome and really smart. Everyone really cares a lot about the clients and each other. The business has been growing fast, which gives something new to learn, review or participate on. They have strong Values and really seem to care about the culture for employees. Feels like a good time to be at the company.

Cons

Like any place, the communication sometimes could be better. They seem to be trying, but the systems can be outdated or a problem for connecting globally. They also talk a lot about the new acquisitions which can make it feel like the regular business isn't as important.

Thank you for taking the time to write this feedback. We appreciate and are happy to hear that you feel like this is a good time to be at the company. We’re in a market that’s in the midst of disruption so our opportunity is incredible. And, we have a talented team of people capable of going to get it. With with fast growth comes new products, new colleagues, and new offices. That certainly doesn’t make any of the existing businesses or teams less important, and we’ll take your feedback to heart as we continue to work on reinforcing that message. As with any growing organization, communication is hard, and we’ll be the first to admit, we haven’t mastered it. However, it’s one of our key strategic initiatives right now. We recently held focus groups across our largest sites to obtain direct feedback on what employees value, what they’d like to hear more about and what types of communication they value most. Now, we’re turning that into a action, and we hope you’ll notice the difference! We also invite you to provide your feedback directly through your manager or to anyone on the HR team. Thank you again for your review and please reach out to your manager or local HR should you have any ideas of your own on what we can do to further close the communication gap.
