Pros

Splunk used to be a great company to work. Agile, innovative, fun, great leadership - we're not that company anymore. Only other pro is our new building - it's pretty sweet.

Cons

Toxic leadership - especially within my engineering org. Poor decision making at the senior executive level. I don't feel like my manager or team lead has my best, or the company's best interest in mind - it seems a lot of the decisions are ego driven. Salaries aren't competitive in engineering either - most people are just staying until their fully vested. Perks could be improved - no cafeteria, gym, 401k etc --- Splunk will surely start to lose talent soon.

Pros

Great perks if you work at corporate Equity given to almost everyone

Cons

*Culture and Values are talked about a lot, but not evident in the field. *Equity has created golden handcuffs for anyone who has been with Splunk for more than 3-4 years, while the culture is changing to that of other big companies (i.e. Salesforce) - more people would be leaving if it wasn't for this * If you leave, don't expect to be paid

With growth will come some inevitable changes, but our values are more than just words on a page that change every few years—they’re what make Splunk, well…Splunk. It’s disappointing to hear that you didn’t see this reflected in all areas of the business during your time here, but we appreciate the honest feedback and are committed to ensuring that we stay true to our culture no matter how quickly or how much we continue to grow.

Losing its culture

Pros

Fantastic product that customers love. RSU and stock purchase plan Improved benefits

Cons

Massive hiring of new sales people and sales managers who bring their negative culture with them. Deploying a purposeful saturation sales model where territories are reduced significantly and raising quotas. The majority of sales people will not make their quotas due to reduced opportunity. It's the Salesforce.com sales model. A lot of talk about the old culture, but don't practice it. Little to no chance of being promoted to sales management. They prefer to hire outside.
