Pros

Store discounts and pay was decent

Cons

This company culture is riddle with narcissistic values. In the beginning it looks and feels as though they have your back, offer a ton of support for your needs, and care about people. Truly, they are money hungry fast food restaurant who allow unacceptable behavior by employees and customers. Everyone that works there is miserable because there is so much pressure to perform and not enough time, or resource to get that job done efficiently and effectively. Understaffed, overworked. It’s a traditional bait and hook job. Promise you the world and then treat you like a backyard fighter dog. It’s always busy to the point where you want to go mad. The drink customization options are ridiculous, and most employees are from a mindset that could care less about professionalism, kindness, or poise. They are aggressive and I have seen employees curse out customers. They rather be showing off on social media than actually working. And there’s no much you can do to get your staff to put their phones or air pods away. Makes it hard to deal with when you care about work ethic. And somehow we are supposed to sit back and give them opportunities to “grow”. There was not a lot of authority that could be used. Starbucks wont take a stand for what’s right. Not to mention this place is filthy. There not enough time to truly clean the way it should be done in their own playbook. Gloried fast food. Might as well be better off at McDonalds.

Pros

Super supportive of employees focused on career progression offers training great benefits

Cons

Starbucks is going through an expense cutting venture, and they don't have the honesty to say it outright. As a manager, I am being told to cut the shifts who have been there for years-some decades even....but I have to find a gap. Also, the hours for baristas are very limited.

Pros

Great benefits & hourly pay compared to other food service jobs, free pound of coffee beans each week, free drink and meal on shift, free Spotify premium, discount on merch if you collect it. I worked during COVID and at the time in my personal opinion, I felt greatly supported by Starbucks who allowed me to choose whether to work or stay home based on my personal needs and concerns. Starbucks seemed in my opinion to take COVID more seriously than other retail jobs in my area.

Cons

Company is fiercely opposed to unions and with the ongoing nationwide union drive, Starbucks' pushback against the union has dramatically increased the stress of the working environment. Stores that have voted to unionize have not been able to secure a contract so there is still no resolution to this concern. Meanwhile, there are serious issues with Starbucks' integration of alternate ordering options: whereas ordering through the drive-thru or in café is naturally prevented from occurring too quickly to manage, ordering through mobile or DoorDash currently has no restrictions or hold times for when the store is too busy to take additional orders. Mobile and DoorDash orders can be turned off with upper management approve but most managers do not want to give approval even when understaffed, so it would make much more sense to limit mobile orders so that customers must check in once they arrive before it submits their order to the barista's prep cue and charges their card.
