Pros

Not many but, you will learn the industry by trial and error. You technically set your own schedule. Most other epoxy companies are filled with ex-Stonhard employees. You will learn what not to do while employed with Stonhard for the average tenure of 1 year before you quit.

Cons

Pyramid scheme. You are expected to do 2-3 "forecasts" a week committing to jobs that you haven't sold, installed or invoiced. Plan on working 60-80 hours a week, every holiday and every weekend. Extremely high employee turnover. 100% commission, Management will approve the payout of your commission if and when they want to, very arbitrary. Company actively markets to customers that they manufacture AND install their products. This is not the case, Stonhard sub-contracts all of their labor just like every other manufacturer, installers are NOT employees. Installation issues as well as warranties are mostly left to territory managers to handle and pay for. Most repairs or re-installations are 80% out of pocket. Upper management is morally and ethically suspect, Avoid this company.

Thanks for the review and I’m sorry that you were not happy during your tenure here at Stonhard. The tenure rate within our Sales Force is actually over 10 years and we’re happy that folks have come in for what they thought was just a sales job but has turned into a career for them. I’m unsure of how a pyramid scheme comes into this, but suffice it to say that if you saw anything that was questionable, either morally or ethically, we ask that you would elevate that to our HR Director or a senior member of the sales force management team. Best of luck in your future roles.

Pros

The company as a whole is nice to work for. Nice benefits, holidays and perks.

Cons

Sales Administration is not a good place to be. They have managed to cram 4-5 different positions into one.

Pros

The opportunity to create your own successful territory provided you can capture loyal customers that will respond to the service you provide. A core set of proven quality products that fit within their core customer market.

Cons

Company is slow to embrace modern business practices including the sales structure and management of sales force. No real control given to Rep over crucial decisions. Sales force turnover is expected and de facto encouraged as a way for low-performing middle-management to retain their positions and show "efforts to improve". Approach to market is unique in industry and this "pro" is as often a "con" in competing in the open market.
