Pros
Coming into Takeoff for me was like getting a firehose of learning straight to the mouth. I’ve learned more with this growing startup turned global product than I could have possibly imagined at day 1. Contributing to its foundation, then contributing through growing pains, then seeing it blossom into a deeply mature service and product, is what I can only describe as complexly rewarding. It starts with a few people, everyone knows everyone. Then a few more are added and then a few more, until it has reached a place that is familiar with previous workplace experiences. This time though, you’ve seen its humble start and you’ve walked with it through every layer that’s been added, watching it grow into a behemoth. This isn’t some cold large enterprise, it’s like home, it has personal value, it has heart. The minds who had first thought this product into existence, know this fact more than myself. The rolling clad of progress is all the more sweet to those that made the first push, such is life. Working at Takeoff isn’t about a commute or the 9-5 mandatory minimal time to be productive, clocking in and out, being a cog in another wheel. It’s about diving head first into new opportunities, greater learning and understanding, taking chances to dare to be different, learning and functioning as a team, absorbing the great minds around you that interact with you on a daily basis. Learning when to speak to build up and when to listen to understand, it’s about productivity and pivoting priorities on a dime to accelerate a new focus. This is ultimately about changing the world for the better, so if it’s significance you seek, then this is a company that you will want to be a part of.
Cons
Big company = Less confidence with some topic areas. Things get watered down to the point where direction becomes less clear and blending in with peers becomes too easy. Takeoff needs to go back to its roots and reignite the wow factor. This appears to be fading due to expanding borders, personnel, and site count.
