Future Employees Beware- House of Cards

Pros

-Most of Talkdesk employees are world-class. Can't say enough about the PMs, CSMs, SEs, Sales, CS, Directors, barista. It's a shame that they aren't valued the way they should be. -Surprisingly, Talkdesk has some of the best VC backing in the world- part of that was timing, part of it was the CEO- he can be compelling at times.

Cons

-C-Suite created a culture so that you had to look behind your back at all times. Strange really, and unproductive at the end of the day. -Continous mis-hires due to the inability to give up control and pay talent (salary/equity) what they were worth -Minimum Viable Product -Dev and PM's aren't in same office which poses huge challenges with innovation and communication -Engineers are managed based on speed of completion not quality of work. Change KPI's and behaviors change -Customer QA -Issues with payment, ie. Company owes reps money, not wanting pay reps money, changing % of payments before deals close. Untraditional, unethical, and boarderline illegal -High employee churn, including controller, HR director, multiple VP of Sales

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We also believe that we have world-class talent here at Talkdesk and we are proud to be able to build the company with such a great team. Hyper-growth companies need to continue to evolve to support the growth. In the last two years, we have grown from 20 employees to over 200, and from serving SMBs to enterprise companies. Dealing with rapid change is thrilling to some and threatening to others. We have learned this over the years and we now heavily invest in the hiring process. We now hire not only the best talent but also the best fit for our ambitious, fast growing company. Talkdesk was conceptualized in Portugal, and we are proud to have built the fastest growing technology company in the country - and to attract top talent from the best schools and companies. With more than 100 employees in Lisbon, we are the top choice for the best local talent. We know that it can be a challenge at times having our team split between SF and Portugal. However, we've been able to continually innovate and release new features and upgrades to the Talkdesk platform, and haven't let the distance divide our teams. While we always strive to improve efficiency, we know better than to manage our engineering talent with a whip. Lastly, while we update our comp plans from time to time (just like any other company) we don't owe money to any employee. If you know of a case like that please email me or our VP of Finance directly.

Pros

Nothing positive about this company. Lies are often told from the management team and they only promote bad behavior.

Cons

I am a seasoned professional with 12+ years of experience. I have not never seen such a wreckless bunch of clowns called the management team. I must have joined the circus.

Pros

The team was awesome. Always willing to help in a pinch. Benefits were good.

Cons

The culture had changed too much and turnover was very alarming. Until someone posted the Glassdoor reviews on a social site, it was then a matter of seeing the forest for the trees. It was at this point that 5 star reviews were posted in order to boost the ranking. Circle the wagons so to say. Training of 100 +/- is not training but a demo. Many products asked for are vaporware and not ready for prime time yet TD showed the future so everyone was under the impression that the product may be ready for prime time. Over promise and under deliver seemed to be the norm. If it's not ready, don't show it. It's that simple. Career path was talked about but never defined or filtered down. Hiring friends of friends in ELT became the norm. Admitting that they know sales but not the industry does not instill confidence in the troops. Some brought their own value statement which caused TD to lose its identity and no one seemed to question out of fear for losing their job. TD should go back to basics and start again. Just not a positive, memorable experience.

We're sorry to hear you didn't have the best experience while working at Talkdesk and we sincerely thank you for sharing your insight. Change is constant in our business, but we continue prioritizing employee retention and culture. We would love to have you send us specifics on areas of our culture that can be improved so we are able to understand where to focus our efforts. With regard to career pathing, we encourage all employees to have regular discussions with their managers about their career goals and aspirations, and we regularly promote from within the organization. When we're unable to fill positions with internal candidates, we work diligently to attract the best and most qualified talent, and encourage employee referrals. All candidates, no matter the source, are required to go through a multi-person interview process. Again, thank you for taking time to share your feedback.
