Pros

Excellent learning opportunities, diverse inner-city multi-cultural community. Ability to serve a community in need.

Cons

Some Labor - Management power struggles from both sides Definitely need to start sitting on the same page instead of playing tug of war. It really gets old

Pros

The health benefits are excellent for unionised workers, with a small copay and deduction . The retirement benefits as far as employer contributions improved and it now takes 3 years to be vested, down from 5. The pay for my position was high compared to other hospitals in the region, but that also included overtime which was drastically cut eventually. Tuition is reimbursed 100% and that includes if you take classes outside of Temple University although this is only reimbursed at the end of the semester and not over what Temple University costs per credit hour but eligibility is from the first day of work

Cons

How about this most employees surveyed about 3 years ago would not have picked Temple as their healtthcare provider. There was alot of hope in the hospital when the new CEO took over, but the only changes were a facelift for the hospital, entraces and lobbies and brand new corporate offices but not much else done to improve the overall work areas. There was alot of management bias in my department, Evaluations were skewed and not at all reflective of performance. It was a problem getting the department to pay for any continuing education classes or for conferences or memberships to professional societies
