Pros

- I get paid to do something I love to do, at least in my case The company does its best to make everyone feel valued, no matter their role. It also has the tools to make it easier to thank and praise people when needed. - Full access to the tools needed to succeed in the role, most of the time. - Chance to work and learn with talented, knowledgeable, and friendly people across the globe. - There are many chances to be a catalyst for change, and little is written in stone. Flexibility and embrace of change remain a HUGE pro for the company, - Chance to learn and grow working with top-tier clients where we're able to pour talent, experience and improve our skillset - Solid and authentic work culture, values, and ethics: not marketing hype, but something the company uses as cornerstones internally and when dealing with clients. We breathe and live by our company values. - No micromanagement and results-oriented work, at least on the full-time employee - Executive-level leadership listens to EVERYONE company-wide, no matter the level, and takes action when required—another huge pro. - Full transparency: Company rituals like the All Hands call and Weeky Recaps keep everyone updated on achievements, challenges, risks, and other information. - Humane leaders and managers who listen to their direct reports and do their best to be open to new ideas and challenges - Good compensation and benefits package, but it could be further improved for some specific roles, experience levels, skillsets, and worldwide contractors. - Distributed by design, remote work is integral to the company culture and workflows. Multiple rituals are in place to get everyone integrated and acquainted with everyone else, no matter the country where we're located. - The founders' vision and values remain even as the company grows and thrives In my opinion, it is one of the IT industry's most people-centric, value-based companies. This is not minor, as the current industry dynamics have changed how companies treat their teams and employees after the pandemic.

Cons

These are not cons per se, and there are definitely more positive than negative aspects of the company, but these are things to note. - Growing pains: The company is no longer a startup but not yet an enterprise. There is room for improvement as it grows, iterates, and evolves. This is not a con per se, but something to be aware of—and work together to support—when joining the team. - Work/life balance can be tricky sometimes, though it is not a deal-breaker and is not something out of the ordinary in the IT industry. Better-defined role specs and more expedited team staff can improve this as the company grows.

Pros

In the beginning, it was a great company with a positive atmosphere and talented people. The engineering teams had strong managers and PMs who provided good guidance. Work processes were clear, giving engineers the opportunity to focus on learning and delivering features effectively. There were also many skilled colleagues to collaborate with and learn from, which made it a rewarding place to grow. There are still nice people who care about you. Diversity and Inclusion are respected.

Cons

I’ve been putting off writing this review, hoping the company would improve, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. About a year ago, things started to change for the worse. New VPs took over roles they weren’t good at, which led to a lot of micromanagement and poor communication. Good employees were fired because they didn’t fit the management’s vision, which seems out of touch with reality. After that, more people quit because the workplace became toxic. I still talk to some of them, and a lot are thinking of leaving too. The biggest issue for me was the new VP of Engineering. From my experience, this person didn’t treat engineers with respect, often made inappropriate comments, and seemed to look for chances to put people down. It felt like the company wanted someone to push people hard instead of encouraging and supporting them. Why you might not want to apply to Testlio: - Career growth is limited. - Raises are rare or close to never, even if you perform well. - There’s a lot of micromanagement. - You won’t find much mentorship or learning opportunities. - Toxic management.

Hi, Thank you for sharing your feedback. This is Bill, VP of Engineering at Testlio. I'm sorry to hear that your experience didn't fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. At Testlio, we are committed to our core values, including Team is Everything, and Foster Inclusion. Over the past year, we've evolved into a 100% remote company and Platform organization that operates by design without product managers. We understand that such shifts can be challenging, and we appreciate your perspective. While some engineers decided to leave because of these changes, after the summer of 2024 we have had zero regretted attrition. Please note that this year, we separated with two engineers based on company-initiated processes. These decisions came after extensive coaching and support. At the same time, we've demonstrated our commitment to building a strong Platform team by adding nine senior members—six senior software engineers and three managers. Regarding compensation, learning, and career growth, it's notable that all qualified full-time ongoing members of the Platform team received a 3% salary adjustment in April 2024 to account for inflation—an important step given the economic climate at the time. Additionally, 10% of the Platform team received additional compensation increases, with 5% also receiving promotions, based on exceptional performance. Testlio also offers a Learning Cookie stipend for all our people, in addition to extensive internal learning opportunities, like the Leadership Development program, which 11 Platform team members have gone through in the past 4 years. We take concerns about management style seriously. While we acknowledge your feelings, our recent engagement survey showed a notable increase in satisfaction within the Platform team. The statement "I am happy at Testlio" rose from 7.7 in October 2023 to 8.2 in November 2024 on a 1-10 scale (a 6.5% YoY increase). We believe this reflects our commitment to fostering a positive and supportive work environment and we're continually seeking ways to improve and support our team's well-being. As a fully remote company, our people are empowered to work in different locations, at different times, and in different ways. The people of Testlio and the flexibility of our work-life integration approach consistently are noted in our surveys. Thank you again for your feedback. We're dedicated to continuous improvement and open dialogue. If you'd like to discuss your experiences further, I welcome the opportunity to connect. Kind regards, Bill VP of Engineering

Pros

Testlio is a company that puts people first. The culture here is supportive and fosters genuine connections. One of the best examples is our recent Lionfest in Barcelona, where the entire team came together to celebrate our achievements, share stories and strengthen our bonds. It’s rare to find a company that invests so deeply in its people and creates an environment where you feel valued and heard. If you are looking for a workplace that prioritizes personal and professional growth, Testlio is the place to be :)

Cons

Testlio is fast-paced and there is always something new to learn. If you love being challenged, it's great and you also get a lot of autonomy which is amazing for building problem-solving skills and taking ownership. However, this can sometimes mean managing a busy workload and navigating high expectations.
