Pros

Firstly, the culture at Berkeley is something that has really impressed me and I'm still enjoying it 9 months in. The firm is small enough that you genuinely get to know everyone (quite different to my past 400k employee organisation) and this means there is a deep level of expertise and experience that you have instant access to - and most importantly the people here go out of their way to help if you need it, and this is at all levels - Consultants, Partners and the operations team. The Partner team are considerate when placing you for roles (where you live, what outside commitments you have, what experience you want to get, what you like doing) and this is different to anything I have known in the past. You are treated like humans (not resources) and this makes for a great place to be. Secondly, the work genuinely is fascinating. You have a position with clients that is unique, with access to senior leadership who truly value the work we do and the support we give to their teams. The view here is that 'we do the right thing' and this genuinely is the case. For us as consultants there are no utilisation targets, no sales targets we just have to focus on doing the best job possible and are supported in our role by a 'Listening Partner' who is there to support, not manage you . We don't have huge Berkeley teams working on projects but a few key people in key roles doing really interesting and complicated pieces of work. And we have a fab new office :-)

Cons

I'm still in the first year so soaking up the way of working and observing how the team operate - so far I don't have any cons worth reporting but will be back after a year or so to reflect a bit more.

Pros

Berkeley is entirely unique in it's field in my experience, and I have worked for both large and small companies of a similar type. It is exactly as advertised and much more - I thoroughly enjoy working here and would advocate it very strongly to any experienced management consultant. In my experience, Berkeley is; - An open and honest company that greatly values it's people and unique culture - Incredibly supportive of your career ambitions and personal circumstance - A trust-based organisation, rather than rules-based - Full of smart, friendly, supportive and very capable people - Fast-paced and challenging work - Free of big-4 balanced scorecards, sales quotas, tiresome internal work, mundane assignments just because the generate revenue - Flat structured so the focus is on delivering great client work and bettering yourself and the firm, rather than just chasing that next promotion - Benefits are market-beating If you want to get on, develop yourself in a high-end consulting environment and support, and be supported by, brilliant people, this is the place for you.

Cons

Struggling to find any cons... It's fast-paced management consultancy so the hours can occasionally be long and the work challenging (with some travel to be expected) but that's the industry we are in and you will know that going in. To the right-minded people this is not a con!

Pros

For experienced management consultants who have the versatility to play a number of different roles across a wide range of industry sectors, the variety of work done by the Berkeley Partnership is hard to beat. Often working on some of a client's biggest, most critical challenges, the exposure is fantastic right from setting strategies to delivering programmes. The real strength of Berkeley which makes it such a great place to work is the sense of belonging to a community. With around 90 people all-in, it's big enough to meet new people yet small enough to build familiarity and friendships. The number of social events planned throughout the year is incredible and the investment in people is very impressive. It's a really caring company with a great sense of fun and our values are very sympathetic to people who are at the stage in their lives of starting or growing their families. Great office space, too.

Cons

The Berkeley Partnership isn't going to be the right place for someone who values specialising in a particular industry sector, functional area or a specific consulting role. It's possibly not going to be right for someone who is just at the cusp of making Partner / Senior Exec / VP / MD as the road from new recruit to Partner is not usually shorter than 5 years.
