Pros
If all you want from a job is money- then it can be a good place to make it. The money can be great while dealing with the occasional stiffs of $500 checks. Some of the coworkers are nice too
Cons
Besides money everything else about this place is awful. The management and owner is horrible. They don’t care about their employees at all, everyone is just a number to them, hence why they can’t seem to keep anyone there long. They play favorites and don’t keep the same policies for every single person. They have unjustly fired several people and nothing can be done about it. It’s like a cult. It’s 2023 yet they want everyone to look exactly the same like robots. No tattoos, no piercings, earrings can only be small studs, no jewelry, “natural” hair color, hair can only be in a bun, no nail color besides a certain shade of pink and no long nails. They change their rules every couple months and expect everyone to be on board with all their power trips. The owner has been known to come in and not tip her servers. She thinks them working for her for 2$ an hour with no tip is acceptable. When addressing harassment to managers they do nothing unless they were “there to see it happen”. This place is just not how a restaurant should be run at all and no one is happy there except for the money. But I couldn’t live my life being miserable every day anymore. Also the shifts are so long it’s a majority of your day and you hardly have any free time besides to go to sleep and do it all again the next day. They also don’t allow employees to use the same bathroom as the guests on the main floor (which seems illegal to me but idk) and the only bathroom for us was three flights downstairs in a basement with only two single stalls which were full half the time and you had to wait which takes so much time away from your busy section as a server. I even heard from one person working there who was older that she had to wear a diaper to work because she had incontinence problems and couldn’t make it to that bathroom. That is horrible. They would say they want employees to give feedback and try to help make it a better work environment but when employees came to managers with problems they would get mad at them for speaking about issues and not hear anyone out. Or do anything. Also they pretty much need you to work for them all the time and devote your life to the company. They have been known to not let people limit their hours to three days a week. You have to work at least 4 to work there. But then again they play favorites and let others not follow that same rule.
