As current articles have already detailed, there is a toxic workplace issue at this company. My experience has been that there are high standards for staff, with minimal to no support to get the work done and learn the business. Directors and above are completely disconnected from how unappreciated and overworked their employees feel, and are dismissive of any feedback. As an example after multiple articles were written about the workplace issues at the OCC many different leaders dismissed bad reviews as employees that have a vendetta and therefore their opinions have no merit. In addition, the OCC proceeded to hire a PR firm rather than make changes that could truly change the organization, such as an upward feedback program to hold leaders accountable.
There is a culture of leadership passing the blame and fingerpointing to staff members below them, so that they can avoid taking the responsibility of project and/or other workplace issues. Most staff do not feel comfortable raising issues for fear of retaliation, which is hard to prove when leadership creates an old guard who only look out for each other and make sure to match narratives for their own benefit. HR is also not advocating for employees and do not hold leadership responsible for performance issues that are directly correlated to their lack of proper management and support. Upward feedback is not welcomed and is better off not communicated if you want to keep your job.
My recommendation is to find somewhere else to work. Don't make the mistake of being employed here just because the job market is tight. I am pretty confident you will regret your experience. I would also be wary of the overly positive reviews you see from Directors. I am pretty confident they were encouraged to post positive reviews to try and mitigate the influx of negative reviews, which reflect the truth at the OCC...
