Disconnected Senior Leadership - Drowning in Tech Debt and Empty Promises
Pros
The employees on the ground are skilled, collaborative, and genuinely care about doing the right thing. Legacy systems and processes while outdated, at least provide some stability for now. A few strong SMEs remain who do their best to hold things together.
Cons
Leadership is completely removed from the day to day reality of how broken the environment actually is. Decisions are made in isolation, with no regard for the technical debt piling up or the people responsible for keeping critical services afloat. Instead of fixing anything they are now obsessed with throwing money at flashy AI projects. It's already burning cash and does nothing to address the real problems dragging the company down. There's no coherent roadmap, just a series of knee jerk reactions, acronyms for everything and poorly planned initiatives. Projects are launched without proper resources or understanding of dependencies, leaving full time staff scrambling to patch issues that leadership never anticipated. Consultants are brought in and deemed useless as they have to rely on fully time employees to get anything meaningful done. Instead of investing in sustainable fixes, temporary band-aids are applied and it's on to the next fire.
