I have absolutely nothing good to say about this place.

Tom James is the worst place in the world to work. They will try to make it seem like it is an amazing place by hyping up trips and incentives, but it is all just to bring you in. They FORCE you to buy suits that are way too expensive, are terrible quality, and don't even fit. Every person at this office completely blows. Not only that, but EVERY SINGLE GOOD "RATING" IN GLASSDOOR WAS WRITTEN BY EMPLOYEES WHO WERE FORCED TO WRITE THEM TO BRING UP THE COMPANY RATING. How pathetic. Yeah, I know a few people who make good money, but by completely lying and deceiving people into buying this horrid clothing. If you were looking for a sign not to work here... THIS IS IT.

Culture is upbeat, people are really nice.

Cons

-Work/life balance is very difficult. I was working 15 hour days and not seeing very many results. -High pressured environment. -They make you call on people multiple times. -You are seen as an annoyance. -You have to accost people on the street to get their number. -Driving around begging for sales and dropping in on people without their permission.

They prey on recent graduates who have no work experience because anyone whose ever had a full time job would realize how INSANE the entire structure is. The pay is nonexistent, every expense is out of pocket because you “own your own business”. You have no idea how bad it is until you leave because it is a literal cult and they pump you full of “positive mindset” BS so you feel guilty for your very valid doubts… gaslighting galore. They teach you to sell sell sell but the training for actually making the suits is pathetic and then when you make mistakes you are responsible for covering the cost… as if my pathetic paycheck couldn’t get any sadder. They basically force you to buy into stock (again.. with what paycheck?) so all the MEN (no women in c-level positions) at the top can profit off the people struggling daily. Do I even mention the INTENSE obsession with God? This entire place is bizarre and the people at the top should be arrested.

We offer the option to purchase Tom James stock to all employees. It is 100% the employee's decision whether they chose to partake in the Tom James Stock program. Many employees have taken advantage of growing their personal net worth through this program, and will retire very comfortably. We have recently implemented a new pay plan structure, in part in response to concerns like yours. Tom James provides fully comprehensive medical coverage, a robust benefits program, and our employees are W2'd employees. We offer a traditional 401(k) matching program, employee ownership, and also a profit sharing program where we share our profits back to the employees at the end of each year.
