Pros

Get to meet very successful people (clients) and learn how to build your networking skills. Grow in confidence with people and sales since you are typically seeing at least 2-5 people a day. This review is actually very difficult for me to write in some ways because many of the people in the company have pure intentions but they have unfortunately blindly bought into the lie as well. Explanation below.

Cons

There’s a reason why the last 4/5 rookie of the year quit immediately after their first or second year. They prey on talented salespeople leaving college and the projections they give you ARE NOT REAL. When you look around at people that have been with the company for 5+ years and see what their pay is you realize that something doesn’t add up. They tell you that “if you put in the work in the first couple of years it will pay off” but this is only true for about 10% of the people In the company. This is a high class pyramid scheme. They pressure you to buy in to stock and then use that as leverage to keeping you around. Any company that says “if you just stay it will all be worth it” to keep you is a company you should avoid ever getting involved with. The truth is they need you to stay and pay in to their stock. They promote leadership and hiring as a way to increase your income, but since the turnaround is so quick you never end up building anything. Your leadership pay depends on the sales of your direct so if your direct doesn’t perform they basically just don’t have to pay you for doing their work for them - managing and training new sales reps. This is a form of a cult that promotes toxic positivity. At national meetings the speakers stories are supposed to be motivating but all have the same theme of constantly hating their professional lives but just pushing through. Needing to hit some massive hard to attain goal constantly to feel good about what you do is not healthy. And it might be worth it if you got paid anything close to what you deserve but you don’t!!!! If you need an example of how this company is similar to a cult like structure feel free to watch “The Vow” on HBO. I can’t stress enough how toxic this place is. I have watched them harass people that just want to leave for a better opportunity. They do this by telling you there’s nothing better out there. They make you feel like you owe them your entire life and career and that is so unhealthy considering for many of their employees this is the first job they’ve taken out of school. They manipulate you into thinking you’re in this great opportunity so that when better ones come around you don’t leave. Then your confidence is so broken down that you genuinely start to believe there’s nothing better out there. If you are talented do not waste it here. If you are hard working there are plenty of other sales jobs that you can find fulfillment in while not draining yourself. This company will rope you in by telling you they care about you and I believed it for so long. The culture kept me loyal for so long - to a fault. I turned down amazing job offers because I bought into the notion that I was at a company that genuinely cares about me and my growth. In the last year, when the struggle of covid really hit, their true colors showed. I watched them fire people with families while keeping other people that don’t perform simply for politics. I watched them not pay new partners their base and not blink an eye. I watched them give ultimatums that lacked integrity. I watched them force their sales professionals to put their health and their families and clients health at risk in the middle of the pandemic just to sell clothing. Let me reiterate: even in March and April of 2020 as the world was shut down, this Company did not offer any sort of guaranteed pay and you only made money if you were able to sell clothing in the middle of a global pandemic - which largely depends on seeing people in person. They put profits above people’s emotional, mental, and physical well being. They also went after sales employees that were applying for partial unemployment during this time and then threatened them legally. They refused to lay off employees during this time so they could receive government assistance but also refused to offer any compensation at all that didn’t correlate directly with sales. They continue to put us at risk by pressuring us to go to regional sales meetings and into offices every day where no one is complying with mask mandates. Last month there was a regional sales meeting and several sales professionals tested positive after leaving the conference and management didn’t even send out a notification to everyone that was at the meeting - they kept it quiet while sales reps were going out and seeing clients, potentially spreading it themselves. At the end of the day you are just a number and the worst part is that they built their whole company on a lie that they truly care about you. The favoritism in this company doesn’t even make sense. The people that end up running the company are really just the people that played politics the best. The executives of this company are just sales professionals that moved their way up and they have no business running a company because that is not what they’ve been trained or educated to do!!! Please make note that this is a high transaction job. The ticket price of what you’re selling is lower so you will need to sell to at least 20 people a month consistently to be able to make a livable salary. You are given no tools to manage this clientele and it will be your responsibility to drive to your clients. No company car or reimbursements. Good luck but please just run.

Bait and Switch

Pros

Control over your schedule, you own your own business, within the company. You eat what you kill.

Cons

Lack of training with the clothing and necessary skills as a clothier, this is overlooked completely. They focus on personal goals like "I want to buy a 2015 Maserati" instead of teaching the fundamentals of the job. If you start to under-perform, they basically just cross their fingers that you'll quit so you don't take away from their stock. Also, The lack of the market for this product is a huge stressor. When you're on 100% commission, with no experience, it's hard to survive in this industry.
