Pros

Freebies (random giveaways like jackets, etc) Cash Bonus Company growth Main office is nice

Cons

Company lost direction and forgot what got them where they are. Company driven with pure focus on impressing wall Street instead of the customer experience. Values make great wallpaper, most of the leadership carry them but do not live and honor them. Overworked, overstressed, underpaid team members. Meetings for the sake of meetings Team member growth used to be important.

Great Job for the Most Part

Pros

I appreciate the flexible schedule. The store manager is more than willing to work with employees for the time off they need. I love that we have regular customers and get to know them and their families and pets. Its not a boring job by any means and most of the time we have a great time at work.

Cons

The pay needs to be higher for the amount of work we do. Customers who are younger than I am need "carryout" service to load their feed. My back hurts too. We aren't super hero's who have endless muscles. Get rid of the propane. Most of our propane customers are only there for the propane and the price match. They let us do all the work in the freezing cold, rain, and 100 degree heat and then want a price match. They don't buy anything else in the store so all it does is take up alot of the employees time away from customers in the store who really do need help. GET OVER the Neighbor's Club quota. Customers are getting down right mean and upset because we are forced to ask. There are so many kinks in this program that I'm embarrassed to pitch it to the customers. I'm thankful we have a store manager that doesn't force us to push it.

Pros

Decent pay. Meet some really sweet people. Getting to see animals every day is great. If you have a farming/livestock background you are better off product knowledge-wise. Otherwise you will learn a lot about a lot of different things.

Cons

They want caviar customer service on a spam payroll budget. The customers have been trained to expect personal shopper type customer service but there are never enough people on staff to accommodate that type of service. So every customer acts like they are the only customer in the store and expects your attention immediately even when you are obviously already helping someone or answering one of the 4000 phone calls every day and are on the phone. It's very stressful and frustrating. The company also needs to invest in more thorough training, especially for management positions. Working outside in the cold and rain are not great when you're not used to it.
