Pros

~Benefits!! Benefits!!! Benefits!! start 30 days, beginning of the month after hire, and 12.5 holidays, the office closes at 3 pm before the holiday. The only company I have worked for that tiers how much you pay in premiums based on your salary. ~401k with matching ~Pay with bonus (may not be 100% guaranteed) ~Vacation time (However caveat below***) is three weeks, some can be rolled over. There is COVID sick time, separate from Sick Days, which can be used if a family member has COVID. Volunteer Time. ***however, we still work during our vacation since we are short staffed, even though we used our PTO time. Maybe that will get better IF we hire more people. ~Dress code ~Swag ~Office resources, especially individual ~Personal computers and can work from home depending on the situation ~Our team is talented and we do learn from each other ~Growth potential (or transferring to other divisions) ~Growth/backing of the company ~Upper management knows your name and details about you, even on your first day ~Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. I would say I get work well with 99% of the company ~A public company, which can have its flaws, but feels like a family/small private home builder ~We have had some events (hard with COVID) but I have heard of events and excited to go to those ~We build good homes and have a good reputation out there (home-buyer-wise and home-builder employee-wise) compared to other public home builders in DFW. That is SUPER important to me and why I came to TriPointe.

Cons

~The hiring/onboarding process, lack of communication on what you need to do and there were several issues with being able to finish all my paperwork ~The systems use by purchasing-wise, maybe training and help would make it better. Company-wide systems-training would be helpful, especially as a new employee. Lack of knowledge of the resources/systems, or given "band-aids" by IT even though there are plenty of people that can help. ~Dallas is just one division in the group, but it seems like the divisions do not share training, help, guidance, etc to each other. You are left to figure it all out on your own. ~I was hired to do one job, but have only done the day-to-day (because short staffed), which is a demotion for me. Not only is that NOT the job I applied for, but it is not fulfilling/challenging enough to me; I am bored and starting to get complacent. I keep getting "told" it will get better but sometimes I feel like these are empty promises, but do not blame my direct boss completely (part of the public corp flaw) ~Work-life balance is not the best. Long-long-long hours and will have to work while you are at home with your family (beyond 9 hours a day), don't plan on eating or taking any breaks. ~PTO falls under here too (also in Pros as far as how much you get) Maybe it is because we are short staffed, but you don't actually get a day off... You WILL still work even though you used PTO hours... ~Short staffed, and then management (and really every other dept) has high expectations of the purchasing department. Other departments have enough people/get more people and there is not a lack of resources... ~They laid off several people at the beginning of COVID. Now we are short-handed but makes me concerned about job security sometimes ~It is a "pro" that TriPointe expects you to take "ownership" of your work and they value your opinion, but most times management will refute you since they think they know best ~I think the office could be more orderly and clean, especially with COVID. My area was not cleaned before I started (also included several dried up spills, dust, stains, etc). It was up to me to clean someone else's mess

Pros

Great team environment. Shared sales floor and great marketing support.

Cons

They consistently move the ball on commissions for sales people. Cut bonuses for construction, quality and warranty staff. Not a reliable pay stream compared to other builders. Starts on homes to STOP July 1, 2020. So if you are joining you MUST have 12 months of savings to prosper. Also, paperwork processes have tripled with three systems needed to create a contract. No final price to buyer in system until after Pre-Con which creates distrust and non-transparency to buyers. Systems are HORRIBLE.

Pros

One person sales office, for now. Close at 6pm, for now. The health insurance. That is all.

Cons

The # 1 issue - They build incredibly & horribly slow, most times weeks go by with no work being done on the homes. They try to blame it on an industry shortage, meanwhile your competition is building homes all around you & has crews on all homes. The production percentage is an actual embarrassment. Customers see this and constantly complain, feel neglected and unimportant. Sales is constantly taking the heat from customers for lack of construction work, lack of any flexibility, & lack of warranty after the close. Also, while the home remains stagnant, the customer is not allowed to make a change. Good luck letting anyone in the company know about issues, when you do, there isn't anyone who will return a phone call or email. The % salespeople are paid is well below industry standard, they expect you to meet target goals to increase % but never give you statistics as to whether you met them or not, just a check mark. The corporate office is so out of touch with reality, so this is no surprise. Favorites are also played big time, some get to give homes away and are actually praised for it, while others are held to a higher standard. This used to be a place held in high regard to other salespeople in the industry, Not any more. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
