Needs more flexibility

Pros

- The employees are fantastic to collaborate with, always willing to give a hand, and usually open criticism - Many learning opportunities from peer learning sessions and lunch and learns - Friday socials are great at helping employees relax and get to know each other more on a personal level - Pay is usually decent for new employees - Co-ops here energize the place - Good benefits - Empowerment: Fantastic quality which should be pushed as much as possible. This essentially helps people grow, which would help retention by allowing people to grow vertically and improve both their hard and soft skills

Cons

- The hours are longer than most companies (9-6). Employees are rarely fully engaged during these hours, instead, their most valuable working hours are sometimes a fraction of this. Giving employees more flexibility in terms of hours will help keep them engaged and focused. Hours spend at a desk at work do not necessarily equate to productive hours worked - Paired programming is a double-edged sword: It’s useful in situations that require robust solutions and complex implementations. It helps with onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer. Pairing is usually not useful 50-80% of the time when the work does not require two minds. Pair programming 100% of the time is draining on the majority of engineers - The interview process requires knowledge of processes which are only partially practiced by employees from the company, but expected from interviewees. However, employees are typically not hired for immediate platform skills, but for the potential to grow. This sometimes has consequences on colleagues with skill-set expectations for new employees - Many engineers are under-utilized, others are under-qualified. This usually indicates a popularity contest or a broken interview process - Some managers are not willing to openly receive feedback from their reports or escalate issues - Transparency: Not quite what everyone thinks. There is no clear definition as to what is transparent, which creates confusions among employees - Meritocracy: Great with the exception of people working overtime. If an employee works overtime, they should be paid back in a reasonable way

Thank you for your feedback. As always, we listen to feedback from all our employees and we recently changed our hours to a flex time, between 9-5 as a result of this feedback. This is how we are committed to a life-work balance for our employees. With regards to pair programming, the practice is the heart of our business. We understand that it’s not for every engineer, but those who buy into the process, are greatly rewarded by the learning, growth and quality coding gained from it, at every level. Please know that our leadership cares greatly for the needs of our employees. They continue to listen and create new ways for our employees to be heard at every level. We have incorporated Q&A sessions with them, lunch sessions with them, and the ability to book directly into their calendar for a 1 on 1, if desired. We are constantly working to improve and appreciate your note.

Fake it till you make it or till you lose all your clients

Pros

-People on the floor are quite possibly the best individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with - Co-op program really helped maintain a certain culture and fresh attitude towards work -Was amazing to work for when it was a small group

Cons

-Scaled way too quick and too big to the detriment of culture talent and work - Senior leadership is quite possibly the worst bunch of humans I have ever had to interact with on the face of the planet. From CIO to CPO to CEO this is a group of individuals that will ignore all the red flags and any advice given to them. Only to point the finger at the floor to say you need to be "smart" and "hungry". Not to mention ignoring blatant sexual harassment claims against founders by female employees. The HR department is a waste of time and space at this company . The individuals in senior leadership are of the party hard while everyone works mentality. CEO wont stop selling the company to his own employees and its only going to get worse. TribalScale keeps referring to itself as innovation this innovation that. There is nothing innovative about this company. They are dev shop the charges double than their competitors for bad code. They are not working voice, AR or any innovative tech. Fake it till you make it. or till you lose all your clients. that is what is now happening. SLT keep giving themselves raises while pay on floor has been horrendous, leading to more turnover. Senior Leadership got a 10% approval rating from their employees. Future Candidates take heed.

Hello, After a thorough review, our salary is at market rate, or above. We also do bi-annually salary reviews to keep employees on their career path trajectory, and within a fair market salary. Pair Programming is very important to us, and it’s what greatly differentiates us from other companies. We sell the Pair Programming piece at every stage of the interview process, and should not be a surprise coming in. For those who buy into the process, gain a wealth of knowledge from each pairing and continue to improve their coding skills with each new project. We hope this clarifies some of the pain points you addressed.
