Not Worth It - Felt Like Highschool Again

Pros

• Easy to learn the process of making smoothies • Relaxed environment • Decent pay on top of tips • Flexible with hours

Cons

• Not many customers come in - You will be cleaning more than making smoothies • The customers that do come in are exhausting to work with. A lot of them are "health nuts" or they act as if they're better than you. • Very clique-y. Employees there have known eachother for a very long time. Managers are close friends. You will have a hard time getting into their group, especially if you don't "fit the mold." Special privileges are given to those within their friend group (free smoothies/food, sitting on the job, talking on the phone nonstop, having an attitude with customers without punishment) • !!!! Horrendous communication. New employees are left in the dark if they are doing things wrong. I'd been fired only after working there for less than a month because NOBODY had informed me that I wasn't working to their standard (keep in mind that my training was NOT finished), even while working with my boss, and they DO NOT have a warning system. I'd only learned what I'd been doing wrong once I'd been fired through a text.

Easy, fun, and good tips

My store had hourly tips that would be added to your hourly wage, so that was a great and unexpected plus. My hourly wage was 8.25, with a varying hourly tip of around 1.00-1.70 (depending on that week's tips that would then be divided among the total employee hours), so on a good week I would get paid 8.25+1.50= 9.75/hour which was good for the easy job that it is. A typical day would be working on the smoothie station for the first half of shift and and then the kitchen for the other half, but it can vary depending which station needs more help. In the smoothie station, it's pretty self-explanatory.. the recipes for all smoothies are posted above the fruits for reference, and might seem overwhelming at first but I was able to memorize all smoothies by the end of my 2nd week working there. The kitchen station, it is the same, recipes are posted above the food items. On down times, we restock the fruit, prep the food to be cooked in the back, wash dishes, clean, etc. It's pretty easy and such a laidback job for young teens. You work with a lot of young teens as well, so it's hard to get intimidated by your fellow workers.

Cons

The actual job is easy itself, so no complaints here. Pay rate is reasonable, so I cannot negotioate a higher pay because the compensation for the work is actually pretty decent! One con I could think about, however, is there is little room for advancement. The managers at my store have been there for over 3-4 years and don't seem to want to leave yet, or at least can't for the time being. So you'll probably be stuck working the same position for a while before expecting a promotion, if any.

Pros

It’s a really easy job once you know what you’re doing as long as you have at least three other employees with you. Nothing you’re working with his heavy aside from tearing the dishes to the dishwasher, which is actually easier than any place I’ve ever had to do dishes before. All you have is smoothies and food and all the directions are right in front of you when you’re making a flatbreads and smoothies in case you forget how to make it. Everyone you work with most of the time will be pretty cool and the last two bosses I have had were chill and give us 5 to 8 hour shifts, depending on what we could or wanted to work

Cons

The job not only pays awful hourly, but you are always understaffed no matter what tropical smoothie you are working at because they downsized a couple years ago to only three staff members at a time as opposed to the six I started with. It was very easy and enjoyable, working with six people even though the pay it was low, but once they made it to three people, the job became almost impossible to service during lunch and rush-hour. I worked here for a year and a half and I got one raise that was only $.10. DO NOT APPLY HERE LOL
