Pros
They pay you on Friday....
Cons
Let me start by saying I have a unique prospective in that I worked in all of their departments and preformed all of the jobs at the entry level over the course of five years. I was attempting to move up to management and was polishing myself to do so. In every department I worked dysfunction on a massive scale reigned supreme. In sales you are told to lie, in the office you are told to lie, and in production you preform the lies. This is an extreme marketing company that just so happens to do lawn care. They don't care about anything but the bottom line. That includes but is not limited to reducing wages, selling customers things they don't need, and not upgrading any equipment whatsoever. I am a college graduate with a turfgrass management degree with a decade of experience in the field. There is no reason that I should not have gotten into management at this company. Also take into consideration that by all of the metrics Trugreen utilizes to measure their employees I was at the top of the list in the region year in and year out. I even was extended an invite to their presidents club which is an annual trip they take their best employees on. Now you would think that I should have been able to have been promoted, but time after time I was passed on and the positions were given to (in my opinion) people on the buddy system with higher management. I constantly found myself answering to individuals with half my intelligence who were terrible at their jobs. As a result most of the managers work was given out to me to preform for the whole group seeing as how I was the only competent one working there. I have since moved on to a management position with another company and am in a position better than I ever would have been at any level of Trugreen's organization. The best way to sum up this company is they have been in business for forty years are so and yet they want to change their business model every year. What does that say about your company? Here is a hint: They are dying a slow agonizing death. My advice if you are looking to make a few bucks and are transitioning careers and need a quick fix, go for it. However, if you are looking for something you can do for more than a year....RUN!
