      The Pitfalls of Going Public

      Pros

      Great company-wide, can-do attitude with genuinely nice people on a mission to do some good.

      Cons

      Being a first year public company means that all are effected (and obsessed) by the stock valuation. The very first stock drop resulted in many heads rolling and a management freaking out leaving lots of departments rudderless and employee morale at an all time low.

      Good people that I genuinely enjoyed working with.

      Cons

      Working in the product department at this company was exhausting. Constant outsourcing to 3rd party companies for product discovery that should have been done by the people they chose to hire. Not that it mattered because they never used anything they found through the 3rd party agencies anyway. Complete absence of understanding about who their customer is and what their customer wants. Inevitably I expect this company will fail. Executive leadership is a complete mess. Constant, desperate pivoting into totally different directions. No strategy whatsoever. The new CEO doesn't like when you ask too many questions.
