Pros

Provides good benefits to the employees. USAA does not act like other bottom-line oriented financial institutions. It has a sense of pride in serving the military families.

Cons

Due to stability of the job, some bored/insecured(?) employees engage in a lot of politics and proactive backstabbing. There can also be strong cultural boundaries rooted in the past.

Pros

You get to work with great people both the employees and the members. Job is very stable and almost impossible to get fired from. Lots of overtime opportunities and shift swapping. Somewhat flexible schedules.

Cons

You have to take a lot of very repetitive phone calls. The phones are always busy which leads to a lot of cancelled team meetings and coaching sessions. They expect you to sell, sell, sell using RST. You cannot offer a product unless a need is uncovered. There is little growth opportunity in management as most managers have been there a long time.
