Supportive, Flexible, and Open to New Ideas

Pros

As a small, young company, Unboxed and its team members understand that growth is the only constant. This makes for flexible management, transparent leadership, and a culture open to new ideas. Company owners and senior managers are approachable and willing to discuss new ways of doing things from anybody in the culture. Additionally, because of its size and close-knitness, its easy to lose sight of work/life balance. To counter this, Unboxed constantly keeps team health as top of mind. While difficult to manage and stay ahead of, I've found that leadership makes this a priority.

Cons

We work at a fast clip. Folks that do well here are comfortable with persevering AND pivoting often and have a tolerance for ambiguity. Sometimes this can be exhausting, and herein lies the con. That being the case, for people who thrive in a truly fast paced, innovative, and challenging work environment, you'll find supportive team members and a creative and collaborative team to back you up and encourage you (back to pro).

Pros

Unboxed Technology is a fast paced company which prides itself on the ability to partner with their clients. It is a great place to learn new skills and be exposed to different technologies. The company rewards those who take the initiative, and it's small enough where everyone knows everyone else. Management has an open door policy, and almost anyone can implement change. The culture is fun, complete with nerf gun battles, author readings, TEDx events and working in bean bag chairs. The teams push themselves to deliver the highest quality software in the most efficient way possible and everyone contributes. It's never a boring place to be.

Cons

For some people, Unboxed can be an overwhelming experience, often compared to drinking from a fire hose. Priorities can change at a moment's notice, and entire teams will pivot on projects to meet a client's needs. Someone who enjoys working on the same project for years may find the rapid adjustments at Unboxed to be unsettling. Additionally, there can be feelings of pressure in working to succeed at a high level with the resources that come with a smaller company. Everyone at Unboxed is important to the company's success.

Unboxed's products and services are innovative, exciting, and game-changing for the companies that use them. Unboxed's people are second to none: smart, caring, and energetic. While the workload to team size ratio is a bit off, we always find a way to deliver exceptional work to our clients.
