      Pros

      What we do improves the world. Our satellite imagery helps with navigation, wars, emergency response, revegetation, human trafficking, and more. It's amazing. There is so much passion around what we do. I am honored to work with some of the most intelligent, yet humble colleagues. The benefits and work/life balance are fantastic. My job is rewarding.

      Cons

      The executives are disconnected with the people. There are no efforts to get to know the employees on a personal level. That leads to company objectives that are not aligned with the organization. Budgets are tight these days, which negatively impacts morale due to the inability to backfill positions.

      Great Company with an Interesting Mission

      Pros

      Get to work with huge data, and interesting use cases

      Cons

      Organizational structure is not optimal and there is way too much middle management. The technology is spread out across too many orgs, and the process for doing software dev is very bureaucratic and slow.

      Too much management overhead

      Pros

      Chill work environment addressing pretty big technical problems without having to work in a defense-only environment. Relatively high-caliber technical staff.

      Cons

      Just like the title says. While it was transparent to me as I was getting started at the company a few years ago, it wasn't long until the complicated legal structure and management structure that comes from being built of many other companies caught up to me and made it difficult to get things done. It adds layers of bureaucracy that you don't experience in other companies this size. Sure, you'd expect it from Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, or AWS, but not from a 4000-ish company. It's pretty paralyzing at times. I noted relatively high-caliber technical staff. Not positive I can say the same for support staff but I often wonder if it is just that they are held back by lack of autonomy.
