Destructive to my mental health and awful culture.

Pros

After thinking long and hard about the pros of working at Veho, the only thing I could come up with is I got a free t-shirt and pen when I first joined. If a t-shirt and pen is all you need to feel satisfied with your employer then by all means apply for a job at Veho. If you need more than that, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Please read all of the cons I have detailed about working at Veho for an answer that is not sarcastic.

Cons

I can't even begin to describe the complete NIGHTMARE it was to work for Veho. I am trying to keep it short but my mental health was destroyed during my employment at this company. I had to spend time seeking professional help after leaving to bring myself back together again. I am not someone who is easily rocked emotionally or mentally so the fact that I had to talk to a therapist says something major about how this company made me feel. To put your all into your work to only be treated like your completely worthless and disposable is very harmful. All of the values that this company has are a false. The culture of the company is completely fake. I have been in toxic work environments prior to working for Veho, but what I experienced at the company was a completely different beast. I worked remotely but it still was insufferable. Despite being at home, I was basically glued to my computer and had no life. I stretched myself thin to deal with the daily chaos of my role which was not worth it. Also, the pay and benefits are not great. Job security at this company is not a thing. The company carelessly laid off tons of hardworking people as a result of its overly ambitious plans for growth and overspending. For ALL JOBSEEKERS who are thinking about applying for or accepting an offer from Veho, please consider this review. I know that it is very easy to become desperate when searching for a job but I promise you there are better places to work. Put yourself first and not a company that is eager to use up all of your energy and then throw you out once your energy is all spent. If you do chose to move forward with Veho, please take the time to ask deep questions on company culture and environment. Do not let the recruiter or hiring manager to get away with a generic answer. Do not let the recruiter lie to you on how well the company is doing.

Pros

You can work remotely or warehouse.

Cons

They promote people with 0 experience and wonder why things are so dis-organized. I have years of experience and saw them promote supervisors based on favoritism instead of qualifications. They have a very toxic warehouse environment. The whole organization is super disorganized. They also micro manage every single thing. Also they call themselves next generation shipping and don't even have scanners for there warehouse. You write with a sharpie on boxes.

Maturing Startup Without Direction

Pros

- Depending on your team, you will work with some great and talented individuals. - The medical benefits (if they haven't changed) were very good. - The product is very promising and has great potential to succeed if they can embed themselves before legacy carriers decide to copy their approach. - If you are talented, ambitious, and willing to learn yourself (and work more than 40 hours a week) this is great place to quickly advance your career.

Cons

- Leadership turnover is a constant issue. Either they aren't bringing on the right people or talented people join and then leave once they see all the issues. This leads to a lack of clear direction from the top and teams having to constantly change direction. - Leaders who do stay constantly find ways to do "whatever they want". Example - in a company all-hands, teams were instructed to keep costs down by minimizing travel. Some teams never traveled while others continued their regular quarterly, bi-annual, or annual in-person team meetings as if no directive had been given. One team, who had just met in-person 2 months prior to a round of layoffs, was back and meeting in-person again just 2 months after those layoffs. - The founders were great in the scrappy startup phase when the team was small and Veho was in 3-5 cities. As the company has grown, they are visibly struggling to adapt to the necessary changes of a growing company. They relied on the advice of their board and investors and it drastically changed the culture and focus of the organization. Gone were the days of caring about our fellow team members, drivers, and customers as humans and in were a bunch of leaders who viewed everything as numbers and data. - Regular layoffs - when the company had its first ever round of layoffs, we heard from leadership how it was something they didn't want to do and they were going to learn so it didn't happen again. Since then there have been at least 5 more rounds of layoffs, occurring annually in the September/October timeframe plus a couple additional rounds as well. - Leaders and managers are promoted with zero training in place. They are promoted because they were talented in their previous roles, but often have no clue how to manage efficiently (or have never managed before). There have been cases when talented team members were promoted and then let go because they were no longer performing in their new role. The company provides no support to those they are promoting. You have to figure it out on your own. - The 99.9% on time delivery and 4.9/5 customer service rating is a lie. During my entire tenure the organization never achieved these numbers. Sometimes we were close. But as time went on, we were regularly drifting further away. Rather than trying to correct and get back up, the decision was made to "move the goalposts" down.
