Pros

The employees at Vista are smart, friendly and diverse, creating a wonderful work community. The work culture encourages employees to work in the office, which creates a close-knit workplace, rather than one full of empty seats. Work-life balance is very good.

Cons

The company hierarchy is a problem. Political decisions seem to be made on a knee-jerk basis, and employees are laid off on a weekly basis, whether they be receptionist or company president. The owner of the company acts as absolute dictator, calling all the shots even down to the most minute technical decisions. Since there is no way for him to understand the intricacies of every area of technology, design, etc, his final decisions often work to sabotage the careful work of his employees.

Pros

There was a fizzy water machine. Health benefits were decent. Nicest, most genuine HR person I've ever seen.

Cons

The CEO had his fingers in everything, could never decide on what he wanted, micromanaged and then blamed others when things weren't delivered on time. Would always intrude on meetings, see the work we were doing and then immediately change the scope of it right when we thought we had reached requirements, had no power to say no.

The pay was terrible and so was the atmosphere.

Pros

I guess it's better than being unemployed.

Cons

Everyone there is miserable. The owner is a tyrant who regularly fires people based on personal whims, so everyone is desperate to please him. The fact that the company owner treats his people like toys to be used and thrown away means that those beneath him feel free to mistreat their direct reports as well.
