Vital Core was awarded the the MADOC contract and took over in July of 2024. As with all new companies there were the typical "rumors" but Vital Core proved themselves quickly to be a company that listens to its employees and makes changes accordingly. Vital Core is not like any other company I have worked for, they are involved and want to see everyone succeed not just those at the top. They pay great attention on patient care as well as the wellbeing of their employees.

Cons

As all new contract starts there are process that need to be worked out, but Vital Core has been committed to help and get them fixed.

Pay is competitive compared to nearby opportunities.

Cons

Unhealthy work setting, significant caseload. When upper management was asked to provide support they increased the workload, added punitive meetings and more paperwork. Company only cares about their bottom line and expanding to take over as many correctional facilities as possible. Initially the hours were flexible until management became over involved in this as well, seriously impacting work life balance.

I have worked for several correctional healthcare companies; VitalCore is by far the best! It is difficult to find a career (especially in corrections) that aligns with your own vision and core values. In the years that I have been with the company, I feel valued, heard, and empowered by leadership to provide ethical and evidence-based care driven by the inherent dignity and worth of every individual we treat.

Cons

It is difficult at times to work in a correctional setting because of lockdowns and counts.
