Pros

Varied work and the people are fun to work with. My manager is great

Cons

Leadership cares about flashy results but not good engineering practices. Priorities often change with very little notice making it hard to do good work. Promotion and performance reviews are not transparent making it very hard to progress career wise. A lot of lip service is given to DEI and yet very little action

Pros

It is great place to work to learn about machine learning at scale. The problems that they are facing are unparalleled. Working there will make you a better engineer. You can be exposed to each engineering aspect of the company. There are free lunches. You can ride a self driving car. You can buy yourself one book a month at expense of company, given that you will bring it to company's library once you finished reading.

Cons

Although they pay "competitively" to the market for all the roles, engineering is paid under the market. Especially, as your contributions have higher impact in compare to big companies. You need to understand that it is not engineering company, but a research one. There is limited autonomy for engineering on picking useful conferences while it is not an issue for research.
