Pros

Excellent benefits to start with - very generous PTO days and Sick days. Great 401K match. Free breakfast and cappuccino machines. HR / Public Relations is good as I am sure they will surely notice this post and probably respond.

Cons

Location, Location - very bad commute for most except for people bit north of Boston. Communication, Communication - completely lacking - was told in the initial days that nobody responds to emails until you actually walk over and ask them too -creating a hostile work environment. HR is nice but other dept managers do not do a good job of representing what the HR rules are and use word of mouth rules (90 day probation period) to intimidate new employees. Upper administration uses weak criteria to fill in new management roles, mostly to undeserving or non-qualified candidates creating a rift in the departments. The first day of my hire I was told that there are 90 days to prove yourself; either we will let you go or you may leave (after we have given you enough signals) - REALLY is that the way to treat a new hire. NO communication from the manager at all after repeated emails and messages on helping out understanding the new systems and procedures. She would generally assign ALL the training tasks to a subordinate (who is already loaded with tons of work). If asked a simple question on insurmountable load of work given in the beginning days - the manager complained to the HR that new hire is aggressive, condescending and not a team player -REALLY??!! I learned later that the person before me was as well kicked out using the same tactics by the same manager. So sad.

Call Center - Well Overdue!

Pros

Great company to work for; room for growth; located in the heart of Boston; easy commute; great benefits; talented employees; everyone is so nice and willing to help. The Call Center has had its rough moments. It wasn't until this past summer, they brought in a talented, experienced Manager to turn it all around for the better. She is determined to make the call center a better place to work - a place where partner departments can look to when seeking to fill a position. One task she worked really hard on was rolling out Skill Based Progression which allows the employees to not only feel valued in their roles, but to learn new skill sets and move up -- within the same department. Her hard work paid off and the call center now allows for someone to move up to 4 different grade levels!! Representatives felt stuck and unappreciated prior to the new boss' arrival. The manager recognizes the challenging but rewarding job they have and makes it a point to praise and reward each and every one of them as much as she can. For someone who has been with the company for over 7 years and have witnessed a revolving door of managers/directors, this has been long overdue! Give credit where credit is due. The call center is a much better place to work for now a days. Thank you CM!!

Cons

Meeting central! Management has been a revolving door. The systems are not used to the best of its ability. A lot of configuration issues.

Pros

Company mission is commendable and they do really care about the members they serve.

Cons

Internal systems need lots of work. Process improvement and streamlining would help them move along in their growth.
