Great mission, poor leadership.

Pros

Mission, front line employees at the communities care about residents, financial strength.

Cons

Job satisfaction at WesleyLife depends on where you work. Generally speaking, working at one of the communities can be a good experience, there are a couple that still have leadership problems, but overall the communities have good leaders that care about the employees. However, the corporate office is very toxic and it stems from the CEO. The person has been in the role too long and has become entitled, micro manages, and is a poor “leader”. Moreover, the person’s private, one-on-one persona does match their public persona. The board is ultimately responsible for this as they do not recognize the problem and/or will not take action. It’s a shame given the mission of the organization and its Christian heritage. It “could be” a fantastic place to work.

Pros

The residents, focus on health, some of the communities are nice.

Cons

The company appears to be making attempts at changing the culture to improve morale and avoiding turnover, but when the bad apples are still given manager and leader roles, there is no incentive for them to change their behavior. They may be great at their job, but they are terrible with people. That will never work. There are a lot of demands on nursing staff that never seem to end or improve. Things change so fast you never really feel there is a standard process. Give the employees a little slack and stop pushing so hard. Celebrate success and victories. The pressure put on employees is too much. I just don't enjoy working here with all the negativity.

Pros

I feel the greatest part of working at WesleyLife is our emphasis on total well being, not only for the residents but us as team members. This year I received a free Fit Bit from WesleyLife, it has been really fun to start using. It is such a relief to finally work for a company who stands by what they represent. Though the residents are the best part of every day!

Cons

No matter where you work, for which company, or in any state you will find negative people. Team members who no longer respect what they do and the right way to do it, these people are the biggest con of my job. WesleyLife does a great job of coaching and counseling such individuals. The catch is you can't make someone love their job or perform their best, people have to decide. Everyday I am lucky enough to work around so many wonderful people, you can't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. It is sad the reviews WesleyLife has received on Glassdoor from former team members. I don't believe they represent the majority of team members' feelings. WesleyLife is a great place to work or live!
