Pros

Friendly junior staff, some interesting work.

Cons

I worked at Weston for a little over 2 years. The salary started low and I was promised a sizable raise after a year. Despite 90%+ utilization and glowing client reviews, I was fed the line that they couldn't provide a raise because of the company's poor financial situation. This trend continues with management making promises for training, perks, etc. that never came to fruition due to cuts or upper management decisions. Benefits get worse with each passing year - the once generous sick time policy was taken away with HR trying to convince you a short term disability policy was "just as good" (hmmmm at 60% salary? yeah right). I routinely saw PMs and managers treating clients in a way they should have been fired for (adversarial, condescending). It is no wonder they are losing business left and right. Worst of all, management on all levels does not value employees. I consistently saw the hardest working employees (and the ones that clients routinely praised) completely unappreciated. As the good people inevitably left, the remaining competent people are totally overworked. This was the unhappiest I have ever been in my career. I have worked at other engineering consulting firms and the way Weston operates is well below the industry standard.

Pros

Used to be the people. I need to fill up 20 words to post this message. But I have none. So that's that.

Cons

This space isn't sufficient to list all the cons. No matter what anyone tells you, this used to be an environmental company. Period. It collects dirt, tests the dirt and writes reports. Nothing fancy. And it screws up even doing that. Don't let them mislead you saying they are into construction, green, sustainability, fuel systems, blah blah blah. I worked for too long here and wasted my resourceful career life. Do yourself a favor: sit at home with no job than accept an offer from this firm and get dumb.

Pros

The problem I have is that I love working for Weston. I have had a lot of pride in what I have done. I have literally traveled the world and have seen many things that I otherwise could not have seen. I have worked with some great people and have made some great friends. I have been given some great responsibilities and, like I said above, I am proud of the work I have done and what I have accomplished both professionally and personally.

Cons

Morale is low. Benefits have been cut. Pay increases are nonexistent. We don't get paid for hours over 40. Most of the friends I have made are now working for other companies. Many have been laid-off but most have made the decision to get out whenever they get an opportunity. People get "furloughed" whenever there is no work and it seems that the "no work" is often due to poor management and poor scheduling. Many people do not take vacations but save their vacation days to use when there is no work. If we use our vacation during furloughs then we can keep our health insurance.
