Pros

Diverse workload, including long-term legacy projects and emergency responses. Interesting from an environmental consulting standpoint, decent opportunities to puff up your resume when you move on. Acceptable medical benefits. Lenient work-from-home policy (at least it was in 2020-21)

Cons

Bad pay raise scale for junior employees. And you'll be a "junior" employee for years, even if you came in with experience. The archaic vacation/sick time policy was replaced with a worse PTO system: after 3 years at the company I lost 5 days of paid time off per year because of the policy change! Billable time/utilization is all that matters, so if management doesn't have work for you on a given week or two your utilization metrics can plummet and your measly 3% annual raise can be docked to 2% or lower. Doesn't matter how hard you worked or the value you brought to your projects. Your practice manager is someone multiple states away who only sees you as a metric to fill a balance sheet. Many of the jobs, while interesting, are slogs with a lot of liability and paper-thin budgets. The corporate policy overall is a complicated, archaic mess with layers of red tape and confusing requirements for getting anything done. Your first 4 hours of overtime are unpaid, completely. The smart thing to do would be to log those hours into the weekend and count it towards your 40 for the next week, if you want to actually get paid for your work.

Pros

Pay is average, and checks arrive on time.

Cons

I wound up quitting six weeks in after a series of abusive incidents with a project manager. I was repeatedly subjected to unhinged rants on political topics, and insults directed at members of my family. When I tendered my resignation the corporate leader for electrical engineering opted to send me an email telling me that people from my geographic region "can't cut it as engineers"

Pros

When I first started working here I enjoyed going to work everyday. The culture of the office was great, there were exciting projects to work on, and everyone had wonderful things to say about Weston. There were plenty of new opportunities to learn and grow and I felt that they hired me at a very reasonable salary.

Cons

Within the past two years things have continually become worse. Since the company is in financial trouble, management is making decisions to improve the situation, but at the expense of their employees. Morale is extremely low and almost every single employee is looking for a different opportunity and dislikes coming to work everyday. Due to layoffs, employees have been expected to take on increasing amounts of responsibility, with absolutely no raises or incentives. They recently switched to a different management structure where employees no longer have a local supervisor, they are managed by someone out of state who doesn't even know them. It leaves the employee feeling like no one cares and gives them no one to go to when they need help. Additionally, because they have managed to run away all their best employees, they are hiring people who are very low performers, which is extremely frustrating for the few people who are still there. All of the great employees are completely overworked and under recognized and over the time I worked there my pay increased only a small fraction.
