Jumping ship very soon - stay away from sales

Pros

- the immediate GTM team is a mixed bag but most folks are friendly, hard-working, and smart. - that's about it

Cons

- all of it but particularly the GTM org, leadership, and business model i joined workos expecting high-velocity growth, but once inside, it became clear that most of our ARR comes from the same handful of large AI customers, many of whom were brought in through internal connections. outside of usage-based add-ons driven by those accounts, there’s almost no meaningful expansion, and the ceo’s resistance to longer-term contracts makes the sales motion even less sustainable. from the outside, the company looks strong with big marketing pushes and recognizable logos. internally, the gtm org is struggling. sales is being led by someone with a customer support background and no real sales experience, and the only other ae is sharp but too early in her career to recognize the gaps. i’m actively exploring new opportunities because the current model and culture don’t feel viable without major change.

Challenging and rewarding

Pros

Have to start with the people are incredible - smart, supportive, and actually collaborative across teams. The product is strong, emphasize listening to customers and the developer experience. A fast-paced environment that encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and continuous learning. High ownership and responsibility, so your work has a direct and visible impact. High expectations push you to do your best work, and the bar for quality is set meaningfully high.

Cons

The fast-paced environment can feel intense at times and may not be a fit for those who prefer more structure or predictability. High expectations mean there’s little room for error, which can feel demanding but is motivating if you thrive under pressure. The pace of change is constant, so adaptability is a must.

Pros

- Lots of autonomy and ownership, so you really see the impact of your work - Design is expected to lead and shape products while also contributing to the design system - Team is extremely talented, but also humble and collaborative, which is rare to see - Remote-first, with a couple of on-sites each year. Good work/life balance

Cons

- Deep product space with a lot to learn, rewarding if you like thinking through more complex problems - Roadmap shifts quickly with customer needs, makes it fast paced and priorities that often change - Lots of variety and context switching, not for someone that’s looking for a narrowly defined role
